According to reports, a road accident occurred on National Highway 49 near Sadar Police Station, Jharsuguda, during the early hours of Sunday (22 February), when a truck collided head-on with a vehicle carrying eight police personnel.

Five police personnel reportedly died at the scene, while three others sustained critical injuries. The truck driver has been taken into custody for further investigation.
