As per reports, rise in cases of dengue along with viral fever and chikungunya has been reported in Jaffna district, as of Wednesday (19 November).
• Jaffna Regional Health Services Director has stated that 130 dengue patients have been treated in hospitals in Jaffna in the last 19 days, and that the spread of viral fever and chikungunya is also increasing.
• Cases of dengue fever has increased in the district following the current monsoon rainfall season.
• So far this year, 1220 people have been identified with dengue fever in the Jaffna district.
• This year, 73 patients have been identified with dengue in September, 127 patients in October, and 130 patients have been identified so far in November.
• Compared to the same period last year, twice as many patients have been registered this year.
