As per reports, the first Badr Airlines flight from Doha arrived at Khartoum International Airport on Wednesday (13 May), marking the resumption of international flight operations after a three-year suspension linked to the conflict in Sudan.
• Reports indicate that the arriving flight carried approximately 179 passengers, while an additional outbound flight transporting pilgrims reportedly departed for Saudi Arabia on the same day.
• Sudan Airways also announced the resumption of direct weekly flights between Cairo and Khartoum starting Saturday (16 May), amid growing passenger demand for direct air connectivity.
• The reopening follows a temporary operational suspension last week after reported drone activity targeting the airport area. Authorities subsequently reopened Sudanese airspace for international traffic through an official Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).
• Reports suggest that increased passenger demand has already resulted in high booking volumes for resumed services, particularly for routes connecting Sudan with Egypt and Gulf destinations.
