Red river flood alerts issued in parts of France through Wednesday (25 February)

As per reports, red river flood alerts have been issued by Météo-France in Charente‑Maritime, Gironde, Lot‑et‑Garonne, and Maine‑et‑Loire through Wednesday (25 February).

• Météo-France has simultaneously maintained an orange alert for river flooding in Charente and Sarthe through Wednesday (25 February).
• The national flood monitoring service (Vigicrues) reports that soil moisture is at record highs, increasing vulnerability to further rainfall. Thousands of residents have already been evacuated in Lot‑et‑Garonne and Gironde, and emergency services remain mobilized as of Tuesday (24 February).
