Red, orange and yellow alerts for rainfall issued across Karnataka on Tuesday (16 July)

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), red, orange, and yellow alerts for rainfall have been issued across Karnataka on Tuesday (16 July). Due to heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts for schools and pre-university colleges on Tuesday (16 July).

Red alerts are issued in Uttar Kannada, Shimoga, Udupi, Chikmagalur, and Dakshin Kannada while orange alerts are issued in Mysore, Kodagu, and Belgaum. A yellow alert has been issued for Hasan. The Central Water Commission has issued an inflow forecast for six dams and barrages in Karnataka, where inflows are equal or exceed the specified threshold limit.
