According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast, a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall and strong surface wind has been issued for Mumbai on Monday (06 July). The Nowcast warning has been issued at 0400 hours and is valid till 0700 hours. Heavy rainfall (more than 15 mm/hr) accompanied by gusty winds reaching 50–60 km/h is forecast at isolated places in the Mumbai Suburban district.

• The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all government, municipal, and private schools and colleges in Mumbai on Monday (06 July), as a precautionary measure in view of the forecast of adverse weather conditions.
• A ground-plus-three-storey chawl collapsed in Janta Nagar, Mankhurd, Mumbai, on the evening of Sunday (5 July) amid persistent heavy rainfall. At least six people were killed and one person was injured in the incident.
