As per reports, severe thunderstorms have been predicted for parts of Queensland and New South Wales, on Thursday (10 October), due to the formation of the storm system at the coastal areas.
• Hailstones up to 07 cms in diameter were recorded north of Injune, in the Maranoa region, and 06 cm around Kogan, in the western downs. In other areas large amounts of small hail fell, in the early hours of Thursday (10 October).
• Widespread rainfall of 30-60mm was recorded from south of Mackay, all the way down to the NSW border into the Northern Rivers region. The highest rainfall was felt in far southeast Queensland and far northeast NSW, with some places surpassing 120mm of rain.
• Rain totalling 166mm has been recorded at Mudgeeraba and 155mm at Burleigh Waters, both on the Gold Coast, and 157mm at Tomewin, just across the border into NSW.
• According to BOM, thunderstorms are forecast to continue on Thursday (10 October), with severe thunderstorms possible for central and north-eastern Queensland and parts of New South Wales.
