As per reports, the Railway Workers Union of Ghana has announced a nationwide strike and peaceful picketing scheduled on 30 September in response to the government’s alleged failure to disburse salaries and entitlements owed to workers for the past twelve months, beginning October 2024.

• The union has formally notified the Greater Accra Regional Police Command of their intentions.
• Workers from Tema, Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tarkwa are expected to participate.
• In Accra, participants plan to march along designated routes to present petitions to the Ministry of Transport, Parliament House, and the Ghana Railway Development Authority, concluding at the Trades Union Congress (TUC-Ghana) headquarters.
• The union has stated that if concrete measures to resolve the outstanding issues are not taken by Monday (22 September), the strike will proceed as scheduled.
