As per reports, Infrabel has reportedly confirmed significant rail traffic disruptions on Friday (29 May) morning following two separate railway collision incidents affecting key rail corridors in Belgium.
• According to railway authorities, rail traffic was suspended from approximately 0700 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) between Zaventem and Kortenberg on the Brussels–Leuven railway line after a train collided with a person.
• Infrabel spokesperson Frédéric Petit stated that railway traffic was being diverted wherever operationally possible while authorities worked to reopen at least one of the affected tracks. Rail operators initiated rerouting measures to reduce disruption across the broader network.
• Authorities stated that rail services to and from Brussels Airport remained operational at the time of reporting despite the disruption affecting nearby sections of the railway network.
• A second separate rail incident occurred on the railway line between Halle and Enghien, where a train reportedly struck a cow on the tracks. Rail traffic on that section was also suspended temporarily while operational assessments and safety procedures were carried out.
