As per reports, severe winter weather caused a rail fracture near Tata, prompting a track closure on Railway Line 1, which connects Budapest–Győr–Vienna, at approximately 0700 hours local time (0600 hours UTC) on Thursday (15 January).

Hungary’s state railway operator (MÁV) introduced an emergency speed restriction of 10 kilometers per hour at a damaged switch in the Tata area and reduced operations to single-track traffic between Tatabánya, Tata, and Almásfüzitő.

• Restrictions were expected to train services between 0800 hours local time (0700 hours UTC) and 1300 hours local time (1200 hours UTC) on Thursday (15 January), affecting the following services:
• S10 trains run divided between Déli pályaudvar and Tatabánya, and between Almásfüzitő and Győr. Replacement buses are operating between Tatabánya and Almásfüzitő.
• The S10/S12 trains will continue to run every half hour on the Budapest-Tatabánya section.
• InterCity (IC) trains from Sopron and Szombathely are operating with additional stops at Vértesszőlős, Tóvároskert, Almásfüzitő Felső, and Szőny. International trains (EuroCity, Railjet) running along full routes with additional stops, including Tata and Komárom.
