Radioactive leak alarm at Lucknow Airport on Saturday (17 August); airport operations normal

As per reports, a shipment containing cancer medication tested positive for radioactive material at the cargo terminal of the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (LKO) in Lucknow. The incident occurred on Saturday (17 August) afternoon, following which Airport authorities immediately raised the alarm and alerted disaster response forces.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), alongside the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the airport’s fire service were deployed, and declared the substance that set off the alarm to be safe.
