As per reports, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) has announced protest agitations across Punjab against the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 from Monday (01 December), including a two-hour rail blockade on Friday (05 December).
• The protest, beginning on Monday (01 December), will reportedly include farmers submitting memorandums at district administrative offices highlighting concerns over rising power costs, smart meters, and agricultural policy changes.
• This will be followed by the two-hour rail blockade on Friday (05 December), and farmers will also return prepaid electricity meters to power department offices on Wednesday (10 December).
• In addition, a two-day sit-in will be held outside all DC offices on Wednesday and Thursday (17-18 December), culminating in a statewide rail shutdown (rail-roko) on Friday (19 December), if demands remain unmet.
