The Pune Traffic Police has issued traffic restrictions ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday (14 April).

Large processions have been scheduled at multiple places to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The following traffic diversions are in place for the same –

• District Collector’s Office – Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk Traffic going from Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk is being diverted through Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk.

Alternate Route – Vehicles going from Shahir Amar Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk will proceed to their destination via RTO Chowk Jehangir Chowk.
• RTO chowk – Traffic diverted from RTO Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk.- Alternative routes will go directly from RTO Chowk to the desired destination via Jahangir Chowk and from Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk to the desired destination via Kumbharves.
• GPO Chowk – Traffic going to Bolhai Chowk is being diverted through GPO Chowk.
Alternate Route – Traffic from GPO Chowk to Bolhai/Maldhakka Chowk will divert to the destination via Kirad Chowk Nehru Memorial Chowk.
• Pune Station Chowk – Traffic going from Pune Station Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted.
– Alternate route – to destination via Pune Station Alankar Chowk.
• Narpatgiri Chowk – Traffic going to Maldhakka Chowk from Narpatgiri Chowk is being diverted.- Alternate Routes – Narpatgiri Chowk, 15 August Chowk, Kamala Nehru Hospital, Pavle Chowk, Kumbharves Chowk.
• Banerjee Chowk: Traffic going from Banerjee Chowk to Shaheer Amar Sheikh Chowk will be diverted.- Alternate Route:- From Banerjee Chowk, Power House Chowk, Narpatgiri Chowk, 15 August Chowk, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Pavle Chowk, Kumbharves Chowk will go to the desired destination.
• Diversion plans are in place for Vishrantwadi area from 1500 hours on 14 April -Vehicles going from Vishrantwadi Chowk to Airport, Tingrenagar – Vehicles heading towards Airport, Tingrenagar from Vishrantwadi Chowk will take a right turn at Mental Corner Chowk and take a left at Commerce Zone Chowk towards Tingrenagar Airport Road. Also, from Mental Corner intersection, take a right at Post Office intersection and take a left towards Airport Road.
• Vehicles from Vishrantwadi Chowka to Bopkhel, Dighi, Bhosari, Alandi (Two wheelers only) – Two-wheelers going from Vishrantwadi Chowk to Bopkhel, Dighi, Bhosari, Alandi will take a left turn at Shantinagar Chowk and after 100 meters turn right and take an alternate route to Chavan Chal straight up to Macchi Market and take a left turn at Kalas Phata and reach Alandi Road via Bopkhel. Apart from this, rickshaws, four-wheelers and heavy vehicles are prohibited from proceeding past Mental Corner Chowk.
• From Vishrantwadi Chowk to Bopkhel, Dighi, Bhosari, Alandi (rickshaws, cars, and heavy vehicles) – Rickshaws, cars and heavy vehicles going from Vishrantwadi Chowk to Bopkhel, Dighi, Bhosari Alandi will take straight Khadki route from Chandranwadi Chowk via Holkar Bridge.
• Vishrantwadi Chowk towards Alandi Mhaske Vasti, Bopkhel, Dighi, coming from Alandi (two wheelers) – Two-wheelers coming from Bopkhel will take a right turn from Macchi Market Chavan Chali and take a straight alternative route to Shantinagar Tank Road and take Tank Road towards Khadki or take a left turn to Shantinagar Chowk and take mental corner.
• Alandi Mhaske Vasti, Bopkhel, Dighi, coming from Alandi (rickshaws, cars, and heavy vehicles) towards Vishrantwadi Chowk – Rickshaws, cars and heavy vehicles coming from Alandi, Dighi towards Bopkhel and towards Vishrantwadi Chowk will turn back at Bokhel Chowk and send them to Dighi Zakat Naka.
• Vehicles coming from Dhanori towards Vishrantwadi Chowk – Vehicles coming towards Vishrantwadi will take Anand Mangal Office Adjacent Road or Bharat Dhaba Adjacent Road to Airport Road and take 509 Chowk towards Pune.
• Vehicles coming from Khadki Bazar to Vishrantwadi via Tank Road – Rickshaws, four-wheelers and heavy vehicles coming from Khadki Bazar to Vishrantwadi via tank road are completely banned. The said vehicles will come to Chandrama Chowk via Holkar Bridge and proceed. (Stone Transport Department, Pune City).
• Vehicles going from 509 Chowk to Alandi Dighi or Mental Corner from Vishrantwadi – Vehicles coming from 509 Chowk to Vishrantwadi will go via Jail Road via Golf Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk, Alandi Junction, Chandran Chowk.
• Vehicles coming towards Vishrantwadi from Porwal Road Junction – Rickshaws, four-wheelers and buses coming from Porwal Chowk, Lohgaon to Vishrantwadi will proceed via Lohgaon Petrol Satha.
• Changes in traffic system in Sinhagad Road Junction (Dandekar Bridge) area – effective from 1900 hours on Sunday (13 April) to 0200 hours on 14 April and from 1600-2100 hours on 14 April.Traffic from Swargate to Sinhagad Road -Savarkar Chowk to Thorle Bajirao Peshwa Path (Sanas Maidan Path Corner) to Kalpana Hotel Chowk to N.C. From Phadke to Mangirbaba Chowk to Senadat Police Chowki Chowk to Bal Shivaji to Asha Hotel Chowk to Sinhagad Road.
• Traffic from Sinhagad Road to Swargate – From Asha Hotel Chowk turn left to Bal Shivaji to Sena Dutt Police Chowki Chowk to Mangirbaba Chowk to N.C. Phadke Chowk to Kalpana Hotel Chowk to Sanas Putla Chowk as per convenience.
• Traffic coming from Shastri Road – Vehicles coming from Senadat Chowk are left from Mangir Baba Chowk. Proceed to Phadke Chowk.
• Regarding traffic changes on Bajirao Road — Traffic going from Puram Chowk to Shivaji Nagar via Bajirao Road will be closed as necessary.- Alternate Route – From Puram Chowk via Tilak Road to Alka Talkies Chowk Khandojibaba Chowk to destination.
• Regarding traffic changes on Ganesh Road — Traffic going through Ganesh Road from Lal Mahal Chowk will be closed as per requirement.- Alternative route – Traffic coming from Kamla Nehru Hospital to Ganesh Road will go via Lakshmi Road, traffic coming from Sonya Maruti Chowk to Phadke Houd Chowk will go via Lakshmi Road, vehicles coming from Pawle Chowk to Phadke Houd Chowk will go via Agarwal Road.
