As per reports, the Platform for Public Healthcare in O Salnés has called on residents to participate in a large-scale demonstration scheduled for Sunday (01 February) in Santiago de Compostela.

The mobilisation was announced during a press conference held in Vilagarcía de Arousa on Monday (26 January).

• The demonstration will be held under the slogan Mobilise to defend your right to health and is focused on concerns related to public healthcare provision in the O Salnés region.
• Representatives highlighted shortages in emergency medical resources, including the lack of a fully equipped ambulance and a basic life support ambulance, with current services reportedly relying on coverage from Caldas and Padrón.
• Organisers also raised concerns regarding the outsourcing of certain hospital services to private providers and alleged increasing budget allocation to the private healthcare sector at the expense of public healthcare capacity.
• The protest is expected to draw participation from healthcare workers, civil society groups, and residents from across the region.
