As per reports, the Nana Shankar Sheth Namkaran Sangharsh Committee has issued a public appeal requesting the presence of supporters at Mumbai Central Terminus at 1000 hours local time on Wednesday (16 April). The purpose of this gathering is to demonstrate collective support for the renaming of the station to Nana Shankar Sheth Mumbai Terminus.

• The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the renaming proposal. The final decision now rests with the Union Government. The Committee believes visible public backing could help expedite the central approval process.
• This proposal is part of a broader renaming initiative by the Maharashtra Government to replace colonial-era railway station names with those reflecting the city’s cultural and historical identity. Other suggested changes include:Curry Road to LalbaugSandhurst Road to DongriMarine Lines to MumbadeviCharni Road to GirgaonCotton Green to Kala ChowkiDockyard Road to MazgaonKing’s Circle to Tirthankar Parswanath
