As per reports, the Anti Methane Project Movement has announced that a rally will be held on 24 September in the Cauvery Delta districts due to depleting groundwater reserves in the delta region.
• The rally will commence at Poompuhar and will culminate in Thanjavur on 29 September by covering Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Kutralam, Kumbakonam, and Papanasam.
• The coordinator of the movement stated that the Protected Agricultural Zone in the delta districts requires an expansion in which districts like Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Tiruchy, and Pudukottai can be included.
• They also urged the pollution control board to streamline its norms in permitting industries and oil exploration projects in the Cauvery Delta region.
