As per reports, residents have staged protests outside Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) offices in parts of Chennai on Tuesday (09 June), following widespread power outages across the city from Monday (08 June) night till early hours of Tuesday (09 June).
• In Arumbakkam, around 0230 hours (local time) on Tuesday (09 June), nearly 100 residents protested outside the TNEB office demanding immediate restoration of power and to also express anger over recurring power cuts.
• Moreover, in areas including Medavakkam, Pallikaranai, Perumbakkam, Sholinganallur and stretches of the East Coast Road, residents staged protests after power outages lasted between two and four hours.
• The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) has lodged a police complaint claiming that bike-borne individuals have been stealing power fuses from electricity distribution pillar boxes, leading to power outages in Avadi area.
• The Tamil Nadu Minister for Energy Resources and Law, C.T.R. Nirmalkumar, alleges that some individuals were instigating residents in various parts of Chennai to stage protests against power cuts, even though supply has been restored in those areas.
