As per reports, thousands of people gathered in Madyan area of Swat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday (10 September) to protest the sexual assault and murder of a nine-year-old girl.
• The protesters blocked the Kalam road and demanded exemplary punishment for the arrested suspect, the formation of a special commission to ensure a prompt investigation and prosecution, and the inclusion of Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act in the FIR.
• Lawyers from the Bahrain Bar reportedly refused to take up the accused’s case, while protesters warned that demonstrations could be expanded if their demands for justice are not met.
