As per reports, at approximately 1500 hours local time (2000 hours UTC) on Saturday (04 October), more than 100 people gathered at the Texas State Capitol in Austin to protest the scheduled execution of Robert Roberson, who is set to be executed on 16 October.

• Roberson was originally convicted in 2003 for the death of his two-year-old daughter, Nikki, based on a shaken baby syndrome diagnosis. His legal team has since argued that the diagnosis has been scientifically discredited and that the child died due to chronic illness.
• His previous execution date of 17 October 2024 was temporarily halted by the Texas Supreme Court due to a conflict involving a legislative subpoena. The Attorney General’s office later prevented his testimony, and a new execution date was scheduled.
