As per reports, thousands of trade union members and students participated in a march in Turin on Friday (12 April), advocating for the future of the northern city’s auto industry and calling for new investments in its historic Mirafiori car plant.
• Piedmont Governor Alberto Cirio and Turin Mayor Stefano Lo Russo were also in attendance alongside the protestors.
• The march participants comprised employees from Stellantis car factories located in various regions of Italy, as well as workers from other companies within the automotive sector. Additionally, the major unions in the sector jointly organized an eight-hour strike, marking the first instance of such a unified protest in 15 years.
