The United States Embassy in the Philippines has cautioned American citizens about a planned protest scheduled to take place near the Embassy of the United States in Manila on Thursday (09 April) as the country observes Araw ng Kagitingan, a national public holiday.
The embassy has stated that it has not received any credible threats of violence or observed any indications of potential unrest linked to the demonstration. Protests near the embassy have historically remained peaceful, although authorities have advised individuals to remain cautious when near large gatherings.
• According to the advisory, demonstrators are expected to assemble along Kalaw Avenue and begin marching toward the embassy at approximately 0930 hours. The march is expected to move toward the embassy premises located along Roxas Boulevard, a major coastal roadway in the city.
• The Embassy will remain closed on Thursday (09 April) in observance of the national holiday, and officials have indicated that no operational impacts are currently expected. However, authorities have advised that the presence of demonstrators and crowd movement near the embassy area may lead to temporary congestion in nearby streets.
