As per reports, the Shimla District Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) has announced that it will stage a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Shimla on Wednesday (01 October) and will submit a memorandum to the Central Government through the Governor.
• CPI-M has criticised the Central Government for the arrest of Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act (NSA) and demanded his immediate release.
• In addition to Wangchuk’s release, the party has demanded unconditional withdrawal of all cases against protesters, protection of democratic and constitutional rights, acceptance of the movement’s demands, and inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
