As per reports, an Iranian-backed military group attacked a US base in Iraq on Tuesday (16 July), and the Pentagon confirmed this on Thursday (18 July).

• The US Department of Defense stated that two drones flew over the Al-Asad air base in western Iraq and that US forces successfully shot down one of the aircraft.
• The second drone managed to reach the base, although damage was minimal.
