As per reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will speak before a joint meeting of the US Congress at the US Capitol Hill in Washington, DC on Wednesday (24 July) at 1400 hours local time.
• Reports suggest that Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to call for continued American military aid to Israel and to maintain a close US – Israel relationship. He is expected as well as to emphasize the dangers Iran poses, via its capabilities and its proxies, to Israel, the United States, and other Western countries.
• It has also been reported that a number of Democratic lawmakers will not be attending the speech, including leaders such as Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Pramila Jayapal. Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, will be skipping the speech to campaign, as will Senator J.D. Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee.
