As per reports, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced on Thursday (13 November) that there be no transit service on Saturday (15 November) and Sunday (16 November) due to an ongoing strike by bus drivers, metro operators, and maintenance workers, affecting approximately 4,500 operators and 2,400 maintenance workers.
Negotiations remain at an impasse, with STM expressing dissatisfaction over a recent Administrative Labour Tribunal decision. Meetings have included over 30 hours of mediation, and STM emphasizes a preference for direct negotiation rather than arbitration.
• Additionally, a fourth STM union representing approximately 800 professional employees-including architecture, accounting, procurement, and engineering staff-is voting on a strike mandate on Thursday (13 November).
• The union has cited subcontracting concerns and lack of available negotiation dates due to STM management’s schedule and absences.
