As per reports, a plane crash occurred involving a Learjet 55 air ambulance shortly after departure from Northeast Philadelphia Airport on Saturday (01 February).
• The aircraft, which was headed to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, crashed less than five kilometers from the airport, resulting in the fatalities of all six people on board.
• The victims included four crew members, a pediatric medical patient, and the patient’s escort. Upon impact, the plane burst into fire, causing nearby homes and several vehicles to catch fire as well.
• The crash occurred amidst heavy rainfall, which significantly reduced visibility. Local emergency responders swiftly labeled the crash a ‘major incident,’ managing road closures and emergency response protocols in the immediate area.
• As of now, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations into the cause of the crash. Philadelphia’s emergency management office has responded effectively, though the area remains chaotic due to the fire and ongoing cleanup operations.
