Pathogenic avian influenza detected at a quail farm in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province on Monday (22 December)

According to reports, a case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been confirmed at a quail farm in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea, on Monday (22 December). Authorities stated that this marks the 17th confirmed outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza reported during the current winter season.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters has deployed an initial response team to control access to the affected farm, cull infected poultry, and conduct a detailed epidemiological investigation. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has also urged poultry workers to strictly adhere to quarantine guidelines during the high-risk months of December and January and announced nationwide inspections of quail farms, particularly those with vulnerable biosecurity systems.
