As per reports, on Friday (17 May), Paris initiated the closure of the first three streets and a subway station in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games, set to commence in 71 days.
• Several competitions are scheduled to take place in the heart of the city, necessitating the closure of certain routes and imposing various traffic restrictions.
• Metro line 12 has been shut down at Concordia station, situated in the central square where BMX, breaking, skateboard, and 3×3 basketball events are scheduled to be held. However, the other two lines leading to the same location, lines one and eight, will remain operational until 17 June, nine days before the opening ceremony.
• An ephemeral stadium has been constructed in the square since 01 March, prompting the temporary closure of the station to expedite ongoing construction works.
• Traffic closure on the north-south axis of the square has been implemented, along with additional traffic restrictions already in place. By 01 June, the entire square will be closed, with adjacent streets being closed a month later.
• Further road closures include the Gallieni Avenue, providing access to the esplanade of the Invalids, where archery, road cycling, and marathon events are slated to occur.
• Additional restrictions will be implemented near the seven competition venues in the capital, as well as around City Hall, where festive activities associated with the Games will be hosted.
