According to reports, four paramilitary soldiers of 4908 Ranger Company were shot by four unidentified gunmen in Chanae district of Narathiwat on Thursday (12 December). The injured soldiers were rushed to a nearby hospital where one soldier succumbed to his injuries in the evening. A funeral has been scheduled for the deceased soldier on Saturday (14 December)at Suwannakorn Temple in Bo Thong, Nong Chik district, Pattani.

A similar incident was also reported on Thursday (12 December) at 1500 hours, when gunfire erupted in Bannang Sata as armed assailants ambushed paramilitary rangers of 4110 Ranger Company, leaving one officer injured in a rubber plantation located behind the Ban Bajoh School in Moo 1, Ubae Village, Bajoh subdistrict, Bannang Sata district, Yala province.
