India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alert for parts of West Bengal on Tuesday (31 March). Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, squall and strong surface winds are forecast.

• Orange alert – Issued for Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Murshidabad, Nadia, Purba Bardhaman, North 24 Parganas.
• Yellow alert – Issued for all other districts of the state.
