As per reports, Edinburgh Airport (EDI) suspended all incoming flights shortly after 1300 hours local time (1300 hours UTC) on Monday (08 December), after a British Airways Airbus A320 (flight BA1443) declared a 7700 general emergency shortly after departing Edinburgh for London Heathrow.

The crew reported that the landing gear was stuck in the downward position and failed to retract, prompting the pilots to circle in a holding pattern for approximately thirty-five minutes at around 6500 feet north of the Scottish capital while running checklists and coordinating with Air Traffic Control (ATC).

• The aircraft then returned safely to Edinburgh, but remained stationary on the runway as emergency response teams assessed the aircraft and inspected the runway for safety.
• According to reports, as the aircraft blocked the active runway, all flights scheduled to land at Edinburgh Airport (EDI) are suspended, and several inbound aircrafts are diverted to various other airports including Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle and Manchester.
• Airport officials confirmed that operations would remain suspended until inspections were complete.
