As per reports, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for the Las Vegas Valley in advance of expected heavy rainfall on Wednesday-Thursday (24-25 December).

The warning is in effect for portions of northwest Arizona including, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Northwest Deserts, southeast California, including the following areas, Cadiz Basin, Death Valley National Park, Eastern Mojave Desert, Morongo Basin, Owens Valley, San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley and Western Mojave Desert, and southern Nevada, including the following areas, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Las Vegas Valley, Northeast Clark County, Southern Clark County, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon and Western Clark and Southern Nye County.

• A low-pressure system is forecast to bring widespread rain across southern Nevada, southeastern California, and northwestern Arizona, with precipitation chances increasing on Christmas Eve Day and continuing into Christmas Day, raising the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall and potential urban ponding.
• The flood watch is in effect from 0400 hours local time (1200 hours UTC) on Wednesday (24 December) until 0400 hours local time (1200 hours UTC) on Thursday (25 December), covering periods of highest rain probability.
• Forecast models indicate rain totals potentially reaching several inches across the valley, with the atmospheric river moisture plume expected to make rain almost certain on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
• Snowfall is also possible at higher elevations (Spring Mountains), though the primary hazard in the valley is rainfall and associated flood risk.
