NCHMF issues thunderstorm warning for parts of central Vietnam on Wednesday (17 December)

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), thunderstorms accompanied by localized heavy rainfall, lightning, hail, strong gusty winds, and isolated tornado risk are expected across parts of central Vietnam on Wednesday (17 December).

• The affected areas include Quang Tri Province through Da Nang City, as well as the eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Dak Lak provinces.
• Rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day and night, with widespread light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms, and rainfall accumulations generally ranging between 10 and 30 millimetres, while localized pockets may record heavy rainfall exceeding 70 millimetres.
• Authorities have cautioned that severe convective activity during thunderstorms may generate lightning strikes, hail, strong wind gusts, and isolated tornado-like phenomena.
