As per reports, high tides caused widespread flooding across Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday (27 October), disrupting traffic and inundating residential and commercial premises.
• Multiple vehicles stalled at the Nguyen Huu Tho–Nguyen Thi Thap intersection, while flooding was also reported along Bui Van Ba Street, Vo Van Kiet Street near Calmette Bridge, Tran Xuan Soan Street and Street 15B near Phuoc Long Market.
• Floodwater inundated homes and shops in low-lying areas, particularly in parts of District 07 and the former District 02. Sections of Alley 136 on Bui Van Ba Street reportedly experienced flooding of approximately 0.5 metres, while authorities restricted vehicle access to some severely flooded areas.
• The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Station recorded tide levels of 1.75 metres at Nha Be, 1.71 metres at Phu An and 1.86 metres at Thu Dau Mot on Tuesday (27 October), exceeding Alert Level III at all three stations. Peak tides are expected to gradually decrease after Wednesday (28 October), although flood risks may persist in low-lying and riverside areas.
• Forecasts indicate scattered showers and thunderstorms across Ho Chi Minh City and southern Vietnam over the coming days, with localised heavy rainfall possible as the easterly wind disturbance intensifies on Wednesday (28 October). If rainfall coincides with high tides, drainage may be impeded, increasing the risk of further flooding and traffic disruption.
