As per reports, the Trade Union of Engine Drivers in Poland (Związek Zawodowy Maszynistów – ZZM) initiated a nationwide ‘go-slow’ protest action to demand enhanced safety measures at railway level crossings following a fatal train collision in Sokolniki Suche earlier in the week on Friday (11 September).
• Reports suggest that participating locomotive drivers across national and regional operators, including PKP Intercity and PolRegio, are restricting train speeds to a maximum of 20 kilometres per hour at all railway-road level crossings nationwide throughout the day.
• Reports indicate that rail operators are offering flexible ticket refunds and travel exchanges as the cumulative speed restrictions cause widespread journey delays averaging between 30 minutes and 60 minutes across major routes.
• Reports indicate that primary protest actions, nationwide speed restrictions, and operational railway delays are scheduled to remain active from 0000 hours local time (2200 hours UTC) until 2359 hours local time (2159 hours UTC) on Friday (11 September).
