Nationwide marches scheduled in Ecuador on Wednesday (17 September)

As per reports, the Frente Unitario de Trabajadores (FUT) and allied groups are scheduled to hold marches across Ecuador on Wednesday (17 September), to protest the elimination of the diesel subsidy.

• Demonstrations are planned in Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca, starting at 0900 hours local time (1400 hours UTC).
• In Quito, assemblies are scheduled at the Universidad Central del Ecuador (Avenue América and Avenue Universitaria) with march routes moving toward the Centro Histórico, including Plaza de Santo Domingo.
• In Guayaquil, plantones are expected at Parque Centenario, along Avenue 9 de Octubre, and near the Gobernación del Guayas.
• In Cuenca, demonstrations are expected to coincide with anti-mining protests at Quimsacocha (Loma Larga, Molleturo parish) and converge at Parque Calderón in the city center.
• The Frente Unitario de Trabajadores (FUT) confirmed actions will also extend into Thursday (18 September).
