As per reports, a nationwide dockworkers strike and demonstration are scheduled across Italy on Thursday (07 May), with a key gathering expected at the Port of Gioia Tauro.

• The mobilization is being organized by the Sindacato Unitario Lavoratori Portuali (SUL Porti) and focuses on demands related to pension access, recognition of hazardous working conditions, and broader labor protections.
• Workers are expected to assemble at 1100 hours local time (0900 hours UTC) at the customs gate of the port, where union representatives including Daniele Caratozzolo and Vincenzo Malvaso have highlighted concerns over delayed access to early retirement schemes and the classification of port work as physically demanding labor.
• The demonstration forms part of a coordinated national action involving port workers across multiple Italian ports. Organizers have indicated that the protest aims to pressure authorities to address long-standing concerns regarding working conditions, pension entitlements, and the management of sector-specific funds. Further mobilization has been indicated if demands are not addressed.
