As per reports, the Colombian Federation of Education Workers (Fecode) has announced a 24-hour national teachers’ strike scheduled for 15 April.
• The decision was taken during a meeting of its National Board, where members evaluated unresolved issues affecting educators.
• The strike is intended to highlight systemic concerns related to the teachers’ healthcare system, including issues arising from a new healthcare model implemented in May 2024 and its management by Fiduprevisora.
• Additional demands include the implementation of pending agreements, the issuance of delayed salary decrees, and the payment of outstanding economic benefits such as the mid-year bonus.
• Fecode has stated that the protest is not directed against the National Government but aims to push for institutional accountability and reforms.
