As per reports, protests against the cuts made by the government of Javier Milei, with the focus on the university budget, public hospitals and the demand for assistance to community kitchens will be held between Tuesday (08 October) to Thursday (10 October).
• Since Monday (07 October) night, students from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) oragnized a strike action in rejection of President Javier Milei ‘s veto of the University Financing Law and the tuition fees for foreign students proposed by the Government. The strike will continue until 1000 hours local time on Wednesday (09 October), includes non-mandatory public classes in both buildings and the suspension of in-person academic and administrative activities.
• At the end of the strike, the students will march to Congress, where they will ask the Chamber of Deputies to vote against the presidential decision, which will be debated that same day.
• On Thursday (10 October), workers from the Laura Bonaparte National Mental Health Hospital will hold a march in support of Mental Health. The protest will start from the Garrahan Hospital to the Bonaparte Hospital, in the Parque Patricios neighborhood, as part of a series of actions in rejection of the national government’s decisions on public health.
• On Thursday (10 October), the Hunger Line demonstration will be organized in Buenos Aires, It is called by multiple trade unions, and social and human rights organizations. The protesters will gather in front of the Ministry of Human Capital at 1000 hours local time to demand answers to the increase in poverty. The mobilization will culminate with soup kitchens in front of the former Ministry of Social Development, in a clear demand for greater food assistance.
