As per the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), a magnitude 5.6 earthquake was recorded with its epicenter at sea 47 kilometres northeast of Daruba on Thursday (19 September). Tremors were also felt in North Halmahera, East Halmahera, Ternate, Morotai, and Doi Island.

Further, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded 35 kilometres northeast of Daruba-Malut. However, the magnitude is yet to be confirmed.
