As per reports, mill workers under the banner of the Girni Kamgar Joint Sangharsh Samiti and National Mill Mazdoor Samiti have threatened a protest march to the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai’s Nariman Point on Tuesday (10 March) to protest for housing.

The protest stems from the Maharashtra Government’s announcement of housing projects for mill workers at locations in Shelu and Vangani via private developers. Mill workers are demanding housing within Mumbai, with many claiming that they had already been allotted houses in Mumbai under previous rehabilitation schemes; the workers alleged that they were being forced to relocate outside Mumbai despite having documentation allotting them houses within Mumbai.
