As per reports, several methanol storage tanks exploded at the Albardon Bio plant at Avenida América and Vucetich, Puerto General San Martín, on Tuesday (29 September) at approximately 1500 hours (local time). The incident occurred while an external team was conducting maintenance work at the facility.
Two workers were killed and at least four others were injured. One injured worker was transported by helicopter to Clemente Álvarez Emergency Hospital in Rosario with burns covering approximately 60 percent of his body.
• Fire and emergency personnel conducted firefighting and search-and-rescue operations inside damaged structures. The cause of the explosions remains under investigation. The company stated that containment, prevention and environmental monitoring procedures were activated.
