As per reports, a mass shooting incident occurred in the municipality of Tehuitzingo, Puebla state, in Mexico during the early hours of Sunday (17 May). Authorities confirmed that 10 people were killed after armed individuals reportedly opened fire at a residence.
The victims included six men, three women, and one minor. Local reports indicated the shooting occurred at approximately 0155 hours (local time). Emergency responders and municipal police attended the scene after reports of gunfire and multiple casualties. One injured woman reportedly died while being transported for medical treatment.
• The Puebla Attorney General’s Office confirmed an investigation has been opened. No arrests or motive had been announced at the time of reporting. Authorities stated that state police, municipal police, National Guard personnel, and investigative units are involved in response operations.
• The incident occurred amid continued security concerns related to organized criminal violence in central Mexico and ongoing national security preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup scheduled to begin in June 2026.
