Mass shooting incident reported at Saulsville Township on Saturday (06 December)

As per reports, a mass shooting occurred early Saturday (06 December) morning at an illegal shebeen operating inside a hostel in Saulsville Township, approximately twenty kilometres west of Pretoria.

• According to police reports, three gunmen entered the premises at 0430 hours local time (0230 hours UTC) and opened fire indiscriminately on patrons gathered inside the informal bar. Witnesses described a chaotic scene in which the attackers targeted a group of men who were drinking before fleeing the area.
• Police later confirmed that 25 people were shot during the attack. 10 victims died at the scene, while two others succumbed to injuries in hospital.
• Authorities stated that police were only alerted to the shooting at approximately 0600 hours local time (0400 hours UTC), two hours after the attackers struck.
• The motive for the attack remains unknown and no arrests have been made. A specialised provincial task team has launched an active manhunt, with investigators examining potential links to known criminal groups, disputes within the hostel community or illicit alcohol operations.
