As per reports, a coordinated cable theft in Toledo has led to severe disruptions on the Madrid-Seville high-speed railway line, affecting more than 6,300 passengers across 21 trains on Sunday (04 May).

• The thefts, occurring within a 10-kilometer stretch between the municipalities of Los Yébenes and Manzaneque, specifically targeted the signaling systems at kilometer points 92/850, 93/600, 101/400, and 102/200.
• As a result, several high-speed services, including the Madrid-Granada AVE and other long- and medium-distance routes, were either significantly delayed or immobilized on the tracks.
• Authorities, including the Minister of Transport and the Civil Guard, have labelled the incident a serious act of sabotage and have launched an investigation.
• Repair work is ongoing, but the expected restoration timeline is constrained by the complexity and extent of the damage.
