As per reports, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake occurred in the Philippine Sea, approximately 94 kilometres east of Manay, Davao Oriental, at 1935 hours (local time) on Monday (20 October). The quake was shallow in depth at 10 kilometres, causing strong shaking near the epicentre, and was felt across parts of southeastern Mindanao.
The earthquake’s shallow focus increased surface intensity, though no tsunami warning, casualties, or significant infrastructure damage have been reported so far. Residents along the coastal belt of Davao Oriental and nearby provinces reported noticeable ground movement.
