Magnitude 4.0 earthquake reported west of Cintalapa de Figueroa on Sunday (26 April)

As per reports, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred 28 km west of Cintalapa de Figueroa in Chiapas on Sunday (26 April) at 1244 hours (local time, Merida time). The earthquake originated at a depth of approximately 145 km, indicating a deep seismic event.

As per seismic data from Mexico’s Servicio Sismológico Nacional, the shaking intensity was recorded at level II (very weak). No damage or injuries have been reported. The event was not widely felt, with no confirmed user reports of noticeable shaking.

• Nearby settlements such as Nuevas Maravillas and Emiliano Zapata may have experienced very weak ground movement. Larger urban centers, including Mexico City, did not experience any perceptible effects.
