The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued detailed earthquake information for an earthquake that was observed at about 1817 hours (local time) on Tuesday (20 January), with an epicentre in the Southern Soya Region of Hokkaido, Japan.

• Seismic intensity one has been observed in multiple municipalities across Wakkanai City, Toyotomi Town, Horonobe Town, Esashi Town (Soya), Teshio Town.
• Seismic intensity two has been observed in multiple municipalities across Sarufutsu Village, Hamatombetsu Town, Nakatombetsu Town.
