As per reports, a magnitude 3.9 tectonic earthquake occurred at 1820 hours (local time) on Saturday (08 August). The epicentre was located approximately 39 km south-west of Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of nine kilometres.
