As per reports, the Madhya Pradesh government is set to implement a complete liquor ban in 19 religious cities and select gram panchayat areas starting from 01 April.

Under this directive, all liquor shops and bars will be shut down within the urban limits of Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Mandleshwar, Orchha, Maihar, Chitrakoot, Datia, Panna, Mandla, Multai, Mandsaur, and Amarkantak. Additionally, the prohibition will extend to the gram panchayat regions of Salkanpur, Kundalpur, Bandakpur, Barmankalan, Barmankhurd, and Linga.

• The affected locations include prominent spiritual and pilgrimage sites such as Ujjain, home to the revered Baba Mahakal temple; Amarkantak, the origin of the Narmada river; Maheshwar, Orchha’s Ramraja temple area; Omkareshwar, Satdhara in Mandla; the Tapti origin area in Multai; Pitambara Devi Peeth in Datia; Bhedaghat in Jabalpur; Chitrakoot, Maihar, Salkanpur, Sanchi, Mandleshwar, Vrindavan, Khajuraho, Nalkheda, the Pashupatinath temple area in Mandsaur, Barman Ghat, and Panna.
